Aim : zero accidents
We encourage our employees and subcontractors to report all types of incidents and near accidents. We evaluate the likelihood and potential consequences of every reported incident. All incidents with risks that potentially exceed a predetermined level are investigated in detail and the necessary corrective measures are subsequently taken. Serious incidents can be prevented by systematically eliminating dangerous situations.
Optimised risk management
The management systems as regards health, safety and the environment have been ISO 14001 (Environmental management), OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety management) and ISO 50001 (Energy efficiency) certified for all sites and activities.
EDF Luminus is the only provider of gas and electrical power in Belgium to have obtained an ISO 50001 certification for all its installations and activities.
Commitments in favour of the environment
Environment-related targets at EDF Luminus are many:
- Contribute to the fight against climate change by developing energy efficiency services and renewable energies
- Minimising impacts on natural resources (soil, air, water, etc.)
- Protecting biodiversity
EDF Luminus invested 277 million euros in renewable energy between 2014 and 2016. This allowed EDF Luminus to become the first Belgian onshore wind energy producer as of 2015.
An inventory of audits carried out at thermal sites to identify soil pollution is regularly updated since its first online publication in 2015.
